     High-pressure water created on the front of the blade during a stroke escapes round the edges (backflow) to fill the low pressure area at the back.  The cuts allow some high pressure water to squeeze through the blade.  As it does so, it loses energy and becomes low-pressure water. This maintains the driving force of the blade while creating a softer catch and more stable stroke.


    By meticulously placing angled cuts or slits through the face of the blade.

    1. LESS STRESS – the progressive power curve, results in significantly less physiological stress in shoulder and back, less possibility of muscle strain, enabling maximum enjoyment and shorter recovery time.

    2. NO LOSS OF PERFORMANCE – there is no loss of power or performance from the blade, enabling their owners to maximize performance more than ever before with less risk of fatigue and injury.

     3. SOFTER CATCH – the progressive power curve, provides a softer and smoother catch, maintaining good acceleration and is easier to keep the blade locked on through to the finish.

    4. MORE GRIP – The cuts grip the water more easily, provide greater control and improve stability in the paddling stroke.

    5. CLEAN FINISH – maintaining the high/low pressure differential gives a cleaner extraction at the finish.

    • 1. The waka ama paddle is made by Hand laying-up, with PMI foam inside, shaped by CNC machine. Cut according to the shape, thickness and size of the blade completely, which can precisely control the weight, size and thickness.
      2. The paddle blade's edge is reinforced with carbon fiber filament, which is more resistant to collisions.
      3. It is 1-Piece between the shaft and handle, no gap junction, which is more aesthetic and solid.
      4. The angle between the blade and the shaft is 12 degrees, which is optimal and more scientific. Also, it is more efficient and help you save energy.
      5. We offer 3 kinds of blade sizes, the medium size meets the demands of both single and team paddling, therefore, it is the most popular size.
      6. Carbon Blade is made by hand laying up production process.
      7. The shaft is inserted into the blade, which is more solid.
      8. With Bent Shaft, which is more efficient. It allows the blade to be kept vertical for a longer portion of the stroke, which is where the available power is greatest, moving more water with less effort.
      9. The wood shaft for OC Paddle is completely handcrafted, made of walnut, autumn wood and white pine. The Wood Shaft Part Area is reinforced with fiberglass, much more stronger and durable than normal wood shaft.

    • Outrigger Canoe Paddle can trace its birthplace to Tahiti and Hawaii. Our 1st prototype wooden OC paddle was completely handcrafted by an over 40 years experienced paddler in Tahiti.
      During hundreds of tests by different levels of paddlers, we made several key innovations on the OC paddle. The 1st improvement was lowering the bent curve of the shaft. And we adopted a classical water-drop shape for the blade. The last point was that we adopted 12 degrees for the blade angle, which was more laborsaving and more efficient for paddling. Then we got the final version of OC paddle.
      As it is favored by more and more OC paddle hobbyist, we use a wider variety of materials, in addition to the full wood, we also offer hybrid carbon and full carbon fiber. Whether it is the natural shock absorbing qualities of the wood shaft, or the slightly heavier weight, which makes control of the paddle easier in the wind and surf, the vast majority of hardcore paddlers choose Hybrid outrigger paddles. 

      Full carbon paddles are lightweight but also solid, which have a perfect balance of lightness and strength.

      Comfort is the greatest issue when choosing an outrigger paddle or waka ama paddle. Generally speaking, the "T" handle on the paddle is usually the most comfortable for any type of paddling.
